What to do
You will enjoy spa waters and discover still unknown treasures;
our hotel, Art Studio Residenza d’epoca is located in the historic center of Bolsena. We are at walking distance from the Collegiate Church of Santa Cristina, a Romanesque basilica of the XI century with Renaissance façade and 14th century mullioned bell tower, mostly famous for the Chapel of the Eucharistic Miracle, as well as for the frescoes of the XIV century and the terracotta works by Benedetto Buglioni.
The Rocca Monaldeschi, an ancient castle built between the XIII and XIV centuries by Orvieto inhabitants, with a square plan equipped with four towers, today hosts the Territorial Museum of the Lake of Bolsena.
Noteworthy are the walks and excursions around our lake, the largest volcanic lake in Europe, with its two enchanting islands, the Martana and the Bisentina. Bike rides, boat tours and even flights with small planes and spa stays are possible both in Viterbo and in the Val d'Orcia a few kilometers from Bolsena.
Bolsena is traditionally the Town of the Eucharistic Mystery; but it is also universally known as the Town of Hydrangeas, for its flowery collections in gardens and urban avenues.

15 minutes away by car we also recommend a visit to the town of Montefiascone, with its remains of the Rocca dei Papi Castle, the Cathedral of Santa Margherita and the splendid medieval Church of San Flaviano.
20 minutes away there is also Orvieto, another ancient village of Umbria clinging to a tuff cliff. The Duomo (1290) with its magnificent façade and important works, including the famous frescoes by Luca Signorelli and the Reliquary of the Corporal. The Pozzo di San Patrizio (XVI century) has an incredible double spiral staircase.
30 minutes by car there is the capital, the city of Viterbo, with its ancient Etruscan origins. Today it is a wonderful, very well preserved medieval city. The heart of VIterbo is San Pellegrino, a quarter which is an example of beautifully survived 13th century town planning. Viterbo is also very well known for Its spa waters.
